Murat Temirzhanov is the head of the state authority responsible for strategic planning, regulatory oversight, implementation, and control in the field of land resource management in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Under his leadership, a number of key legislative initiatives aimed at the sustainable and efficient use of land resources are being implemented. These include amendments to the Land Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Law “On Pastures,” and the draft law “On Soil Protection.” In addition, measures are being taken to reclaim unused land for further redistribution among the population.

As the National Coordinator for the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) in Kazakhstan, Mr. Temirzhanov places particular importance on international cooperation — promoting the exchange of experience, strengthening partnerships, and introducing advanced technologies.

One such innovation is carbon farming, which plays a vital role in mitigating the effects of climate change by promoting environmental sustainability and the rational use of natural resources.
